Who We Are & How We Help

Colorado Acupuncture Billing helps Medicare patients access covered acupuncture treatment through participating Licensed Acupuncturists.

Medicare Part B covers acupuncture for qualifying chronic low back pain, but Medicare has specific requirements for how these services are provided and billed. Our team brings together Licensed Acupuncturists, a qualified Medical Director, and experienced medical billing professionals to manage this process for you.

We work behind the scenes with your acupuncturist to verify your Medicare benefits, oversee the Medicare billing process, review required documentation, submit and track claims, and help make sure your covered acupuncture care follows Medicare's requirements.

Your Licensed Acupuncturist provides your treatment. We take care of the Medicare process behind it.

Your Medicare Acupuncture Benefit

Original Medicare Part B covers acupuncture for qualifying chronic low back pain.

If you meet Medicare's requirements, you may receive up to 12 acupuncture treatments within a 90-day period.

If you are showing improvement with treatment, Medicare may cover up to 8 additional visits, for a maximum of 20 covered acupuncture treatments per year.

Our goal is to help you get the most from the Medicare benefits available to you while making the process as simple as possible.

Your participating Licensed Acupuncturist will provide your treatments and monitor your progress.

Colorado Acupuncture Billing takes care of the Medicare process behind the scenes, including verifying your benefits, processing claims, and coordinating applicable insurance billing.

More access to acupuncture. Less confusion about Medicare.

We believe patients should be able to access the care available to them through their Medicare benefits—and we're here to help make that happen.

12 initial visits within 90 days
+ up to 8 additional visits when you're improving
= up to 20 covered visits per year

Additional visits are based on documented improvement and Medicare's coverage requirements.

Treatment must be discontinued if the patient is not improving or is regressing.

What Medicare Plans Can We Work With?

We currently work with:

✓ Original Medicare Part B

✓ Medicare Supplement / Medigap plans

✕ Medicare Advantage

Colorado Acupuncture Billing works with Original Medicare Part B and Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans.

If you have Original Medicare Part B, we can verify your eligibility and acupuncture benefits before you begin treatment with one of our participating Licensed Acupuncturists.

If you also have a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan, we will verify your supplemental coverage and coordinate billing when applicable. Depending on your plan, your supplement may cover some or all of the deductible and/or coinsurance that Original Medicare leaves as your responsibility.

What about Medicare Advantage?

We do not currently accept Medicare Advantage plans.

Medicare Advantage plans are private insurance plans that replace Original Medicare for your Medicare benefits. If your primary coverage is through a Medicare Advantage plan, we are unable to bill Original Medicare for your acupuncture treatment through our program.

Not sure whether you have Original Medicare or Medicare Advantage? That's okay! Send us a copy of your insurance card and we'll help determine what type of coverage you have.

Why Work With Colorado Acupuncture Billing?

Medicare can be confusing. Getting acupuncture care shouldn't be.

Colorado Acupuncture Billing was created to help Medicare patients access the acupuncture benefits available to them while making the insurance process as simple as possible.

We work with participating Licensed Acupuncturists and manage the Medicare process behind the scenes, so you can focus on your treatment instead of worrying about insurance paperwork.

When you work with us:

  • We verify your Medicare benefits. We'll check your Original Medicare eligibility and acupuncture benefits before you begin covered treatment.

  • You choose a participating Licensed Acupuncturist. Your acupuncture treatment is provided by a qualified, licensed professional participating in our program.

  • We handle the Medicare billing. We submit and track your covered acupuncture claims and coordinate with your Medicare Supplement insurance when applicable.

  • We help you understand what you owe. We'll help explain deductibles, coinsurance and other patient responsibility so you're not left trying to decipher Medicare on your own.

  • We're here when you have questions. If you receive a Medicare notice or have questions about a claim or bill, our team is available to help.

You focus on feeling better. We'll help with the Medicare part.

Our goal is to make Medicare-covered acupuncture easier to access, easier to understand, and easier to use.

How Billing & Payments Work

Your Licensed Acupuncturist provides your treatment, while Colorado Acupuncture Billing manages the Medicare billing process.

We submit covered acupuncture services to Original Medicare on behalf of your participating provider. Medicare processes the claim and determines what Medicare pays and what, if anything, is your responsibility.

If you have a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan, we will coordinate billing with your supplemental insurance when applicable.

If there is a remaining deductible or coinsurance amount that is your responsibility, Colorado Acupuncture Billing will bill you directly.

Please do not pay your acupuncturist for Medicare-covered services at the time of your appointment unless you have been specifically instructed to do so.

You may receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) or Medicare Summary Notice (MSN) showing the billing provider or Medical Director associated with your claim. This is part of the Medicare billing structure and does not change who provided your acupuncture treatment.

Your acupuncturist provides your care. We handle the Medicare billing.
